I strive to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere for my clients so that they can "let their guard down" and share the information that will be critical to their healing. It is this therapeutic relationship that allows change to happen.
After completion of an assessment which summarizes what we are working on, we will set treatment goals together. This will be the foundation of your therapy and we will refer to it periodically to ensure that our work is productive. We will be partners in the journey that you take.
Because clients share such sensitive information with their therapist, it is critical that they trust and believe in the integrity of their therapist. I am bound by ethical guidelines within the terms of my license as well as HIPPA regulations to ensure privacy of the information clients share in therapy.
In order to create a comfortable atmosphere, I believe it is important to adapt to client's needs. This includes using therapeutic methods that best suit their personality and particular problems. In keeping with this belief, I have maintained my skill level with a variety of methods.
I tend toward psychodynamic, client centered and/or cognitive-behavioral methods depending on what issues the client brings forth, their personality, and any time limits we may have on working together.
